NASA CONTRACTS
National
Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Aerospace Academy
(SEMAA) Office
Located in 14 states and 24 colleges/universities, SEMAA
reaches K–12 minority students who are traditionally
underrepresented in STEM careers. Students meet during school,
after school, on Saturday mornings, or during the summer
to engage in hands-on, interactive learning session.
NASA
Explorer Schools (NES) Evaluation Task
NES offers a 3-year partnership between NASA and teams (currently
249 nationwide) consisting of teachers and education administrators.
Focusing on underserved populations, the program is designed
at the 4–9 grade levels to help middle schools improve
teaching and learning in STEM education through significant
structural and curricular support based on NASA’s
resources.
Visitor
Education Community Outreach Support Services (VECOSS)
Includes management, maintenance and operation of the NASA
Glenn Research Center Visitor Center, aerospace lecturers,
tours, public mail and publications, speaker’s bureau,
exhibits and artifacts, volunteer and conducting special
events.
Aeronautics
Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) Communications/Education
Support
RMD is focusing its educational efforts on students at the
higher education levels in order to encourage an expanded
pipeline of talent entering aerospace careers. Curriculum
will be developed to fill in subject matter gaps, including
Web-based, supplemental materials related to undergraduate
and continuing educational, as well as design competitions
for university students.
